AMERICAN PUBLIC TELEVISION PRESS RELEASE THE WORLD IS MY KITCHEN A gourmet cooking series with Southern flair THE WORLD IS MY KITCHEN, airing on public television stations nationwide beginning September 6, 2003 (check local listings), is a new 13-part cooking series that combines the flair of Italian cooking with the foods of the coastal Southern United States and the Caribbean. Chef Suzi Massetti, a native of Italy, shares her passion for food and people as she blends her culinary influences with Southern-style foods to prepare new and traditional recipes. Starting with indigenous ingredients from coastal Georgia (oysters), the low-country of South Carolina (blue crab), the Florida Keys (conch) the Gulf Coast (shrimp), the Caribbean Islands (plantains) and New Orleans (fried green tomatoes), Chef Massetti makes each regional dish an entertaining and delicious history lesson and a short trip into the essence of a country. The recipes — as many as nine per episode — are true originals; most have never been featured on television before. Produced in historic Savannah, Georgia, THE WORLD IS MY KITCHEN showcases many specialties of fish, shellfish, chicken and beef dishes that are unique to the South, as well as breads, soups, salads and desserts. Chef Massetti adds a special twist to each recipe and incorporates Italian accents such focaccia bread, parmesan cheese, prosciutto and risotto to her creations. Produced by Rick and Donna Bowen, Ross and Jan McMillan, Don and Pat Bruno and Don and Chea Dukes. Directed by Rick and Donna Bowen. Produced in 2001, THE WORLD IS MY KITCHEN is supplied by TWIMK, Inc. (Pie In the Sky Productions) and presented by American Public Television through the Exchange service at no cost to public television stations nationwide.
